On the 81st anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade, the National Center for Historical Memory under the President of the Russian Federation prepared this exhibition.
Across sixteen panels, documentary evidence, archival records, and photographs present proof of all manifestations of genocide committed by the Nazis and their collaborators against the Soviet people. In preparing the exhibition, particular emphasis was placed on the thematic narrative: crimes against children, bombings, starvation, and the destruction of cultural heritage.
The exhibition materials are based on the decision of the Saint Petersburg City Court dated October 20, 2022, recognizing the Siege of Leningrad as genocide. Materials from archives and museums in Saint Petersburg, Moscow, the Leningrad, Yaroslavl, Pskov, and Kostroma regions, the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra, as well as the State Film Fund of Russia, were used in its creation.
The exhibition has been translated into English and Italian. The English-language version was presented at the United Nations headquarters on January 13, 2025. The Italian version was prepared for display at the Russian Embassy in Rome.
